MLS Service Chooses a New Name to Reflect the Future of Real Estate

SABOR MLS has rebranded itself as LERA MLS, introducing a new brand identity designed to reflect the professionalism and distinction of real estate agents and subscribers. The new name was announced in a LinkedIn post, explaining that the choice was based on research and a well-thought-out plan aimed at anticipating the future of real estate.

This move comes as part of broader efforts within the real estate sector to move away from names that directly reference specific associations or geographic markets, with the goal of strengthening independent brand identities. On its new website, SABOR confirmed that LERA MLS will operate as an independent entity targeting a broader region, while SABOR remains a key stakeholder and continues to serve more than 13,000 real estate agents.

SABOR also announced that HAR.com, operated by the Houston Association of Realtors, will serve as the primary consumer-facing platform for displaying LERA MLS listings. The site primarily covers the Texas market and routes buyer inquiries directly to real estate agents.

In a related development, Bright MLS, the largest multiple listing service in the United States, has launched a new data-sharing system with Williamsburg MLS. This collaboration allows subscribers to seamlessly access listings from both markets without the need to enter listings separately. Bright explained that this system enhances subscribers’ competitiveness by enabling them to expand their networks and attract more business.

In the northern United States, NorthstarMLS has continued to expand its services by adding the Fargo-Moorhead Area Association of Realtors to its client base. This partnership, which began in March 2024, will allow approximately 1,000 association members to access advanced tools and services, as well as property listings covering wide areas such as western Minnesota and eastern North Dakota.

Tim Dain, CEO of NorthstarMLS, expressed optimism about the collaboration, noting that it represents a step toward strengthening the regional real estate ecosystem through modern technology.

In another development within the real estate sector, the American Association of Real Estate (AARE) announced plans to hire a chief executive officer for the first time, after long-term reliance on volunteers.

According to co-founder Jason Haber, the decision follows the success of the paid membership program, which has attracted thousands of agents from across the United States. This hire is considered a strategic step toward shaping the association’s future and reinforcing its presence as a leading group in the real estate brokerage industry.
