AI to shift from experimentation to delivery in 2026

Estate agency software provider Rex predicts that 2026 will be the year artificial intelligence (AI) begins delivering tangible results. According to Mark Hinkins, UK commercial director at Rex, as AI and automation become more deeply integrated into estate agency operations, the agencies that excel in 2026 will be those that use technology to enhance—rather than replace—human interaction.

He explained that top-performing agents will focus on humanising the digital experience, using automation to reduce friction and administrative tasks while dedicating more time to building trust, offering advice, and strengthening relationships.

Hinkins noted that clients are not seeking technology for its own sake but want to feel understood, recognised, and properly guided. He said successful agencies will combine intelligent digital tools with personalised communication, consistent service, and real expertise, ensuring that even automated interactions feel thoughtful and human. As technology becomes more uniform across the sector, he added, strong relationships will become the key differentiator.

Hinkins also believes that 2026 will represent a move away from AI experimentation toward solutions that deliver clear and measurable value. He said agents are increasingly cautious of broad claims and “AI-powered” branding that fail to produce real benefits. The next stage of adoption, he explained, will focus on purposeful AI designed to address specific challenges, save significant time, and improve decision-making.

He added that forward-thinking agencies will prioritise AI that integrates smoothly into everyday workflows, is easy to trust, and can be clearly understood. Rather than adopting AI for its own sake, the focus will be on using it where it reduces friction, provides deeper insights, or enhances the client experience. Over the coming year, he concluded, clarity and practical results will cut through the hype and win over sceptical agents.
