Freddie Mac, the mortgage finance corporation, announced that the average interest rate on 30-year mortgage loans in the United States reached 6.16% this week, a level close to its lowest expected rates in 2025.
This slight increase represents a small change from last week’s average of 6.15%, when the rate recorded its lowest level since October 3, 2024. Over the past year, the average interest rate stood at 6.93%.
As for 15-year fixed-rate mortgage loans, their costs also saw a slight increase this week, rising from 5.44% last week to 5.46% currently. It is worth noting that the average interest rate for these loans last year was around 6.14%, according to a report by the Associated Press.
