The Chicago area and the state of Texas have continued to hold their distinguished positions as the leading U.S. destinations for corporate facility investments over many years.
Chicago topped all metropolitan areas in the United States, recording 606 qualified real estate renovation and expansion projects in 2025. These achievements reaffirm the region’s sustained dominance, as it has maintained the number one ranking in this category for thirteen consecutive years despite the financial challenges facing the city and the broader region.

Notably, the number of qualifying projects increased significantly compared to 2024, when 582 projects were recorded. Meanwhile, the state of Texas secured the prestigious “Governor’s Cup” title for the fourteenth consecutive year after registering 1,406 qualifying projects, marking an increase from the 1,368 projects recorded the previous year.
In the metropolitan competition, Chicago significantly outperformed the Greater Houston area, which recorded 590 qualifying projects, followed by the Dallas area with 410 projects. At the state level, Texas comfortably surpassed its competitors, including Illinois, which recorded 680 qualifying projects, and Ohio, which followed with 467 projects.
