Saudi Investment Minister: Real estate accounts for 13% of the economy and is a haven during global turmoil

Saudi Minister of Investment Khalid Al-Falih confirmed that the real estate and construction sector represents a fundamental pillar of the national economy, contributing about 13% to the gross domestic product, reflecting its important role in sustainable development.

Al-Falih noted that real estate assets are considered a safe investment option, especially amid geopolitical tensions and global economic fluctuations, pointing out that they provide stable returns and are less volatile compared to stock markets, in addition to their role as a hedge against inflation and in preserving asset value over the long term.

He added that these factors make real estate attractive to both local and international investors, particularly during times of economic uncertainty, as the sector’s stability enhances investor confidence and encourages long-term investments.

Today in Riyadh, the fifth edition of the Future of Real Estate Forum 2026 was launched under the theme “Expanding Horizons and Thriving Real Estate,” under the patronage of the Minister of Municipalities and Housing. The forum enjoys significant local and international interest due to rapid development and major projects that support the sector’s global standing.
