Winnington Road in London Tops the List of the Most Expensive Luxury Streets for Residential Property Purchases in Britain in 2026

A recent report issued by Rightmove revealed the list of the most expensive streets to buy residential properties in Britain for 2026. Winnington Road, located in the Barnet area of North London, ranked first with an average price of approximately £12.5 million ($17.7 million).

The report is based on data from the platform, which is considered the largest of its kind in the UK real estate market. It covered streets that had at least five homes listed for sale during the month of January.

In second place came Chester Square in Westminster, Central London, with an average price of £11.5 million ($16.3 million). The Bishops Avenue, also located in Barnet, ranked third with an average of £8.9 million ($12.6 million).

Outside London, East Road in the Elmbridge area of Surrey topped the list, becoming the only street outside the capital to feature among the top twenty, with an average price of £8.7 million ($12.4 million).

Looking at the rest of the countries within the United Kingdom, Drumsheugh Gardens in Edinburgh ranked as the most expensive street in Scotland, with an average of £560,000 ($790,000). Meanwhile, Hollybush Road in Cardiff topped the list of the most expensive streets in Wales, with an average price of £1.2 million ($1.7 million).

Colleen Babcock, a property expert at Rightmove, confirmed that the list of the most expensive streets in Britain attracts significant attention every year. She noted that Winnington Road’s return to the top spot reflects the continued rise in prices in North London and highlighted the dominance of London streets on the list, which underscores the ongoing momentum of the city’s luxury real estate market.

Babcock added that buyers looking to move to quieter areas away from the hustle and bustle of London may find Elmbridge in Surrey an attractive option, as it is the only location outside the capital represented among the top twenty streets this year.
