Chicago (November 17, 2025) – The National Association of Realtors (NAR) announced new updates to the Multiple Listing Services (MLS) Policy Handbook following a comprehensive review of existing policies. The process included an assessment of antitrust risks and collaboration with legal experts.
For the first time, a full policy review was conducted under the leadership of an advisory group composed of experts and executive leaders from various sectors.

The group submitted 18 recommendations to enhance the MLS Policy Handbook, including strengthening local governance, modernizing rules, and eliminating outdated practices.
After the recommendations were approved by multiple committees, it was decided that they would be incorporated into the 2026 Handbook, scheduled for publication in January. These updates aim to better support members in serving their clients efficiently and to reflect recent developments in the real estate sector.
The Association reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and policy development to reduce legal risks and better serve members and consumers. Former President Kevin Sears praised the advisory group for its efforts and its role in improving the industry.
The National Association of Realtors is the largest trade organization representing residential and commercial real estate professionals and remains committed to advancing best practices and providing valuable tools for consumers through its website.
